A 1984 Honors graduate of Philadelphia's Hussian School of Art with a specialization in Illustration and Graphic Design, Jeff is one of the last of the “old-school” graphic artists. Receiving his formal education before computers had changed the face of the graphic arts industry, he is rooted firmly in fine art and traditional pre-press functions.
As fate would have it, 1984 was the year the Apple Macintosh was introduced. Having owned several early microcomputers with limited graphic capabilities, he was immediately intrigued by the potential of what the Mac could do. He embraced the new technology with fervor, actively participating in the revolutionary changes in the graphic arts industry caused by the Mac’s introduction. Jeff became one of southern New Jersey’s leading consultants in all things Macintosh as well as in related fields, assisting numerous agencies, design houses and printers transistion to the new technologies.
In the early 1990’s, with the advent of the World Wide Web and graphical web browsers, Jeff quickly adapted his graphic arts skill and love of computer technology to the new medium. He began with just a text editor banging out raw HTML code for his web pages. As new technologies emerged, they were added to his repertoire. Macromedia Dreamweaver is a time-saver for website development, but it’s handy to be able to jump into the raw code when necessary.
Working as a Freelance Illustrator/Designer/Consultant since 1983, Jeff has worked for clients ranging from local businesses to Fortune 500 companies. He has also worked for many area printers and imagesetters as a troubleshooter and consultant.
Jeff has been working with Graphicus Communications since 2003, as a graphic artist and Internet specialist. He is also responsible for the maintenance of Graphicus’ expansive state-of-the-art computer hardware, software and networks.
Jeff is married to Amanda (the agency’s web administrator and e-mail function specialist). Together, they live in Millville in a very crowded house with their three cats; thousands of books, CDs and vinyl LPs; dozens of current and vintage Macs & PCs (all fully-functional); and a library of classic and not-so classic movies. He is also a founding director of the Levoy Theatre Preservation Society, of Millville, NJ.
In his limited spare time, Jeff has been known to undertake projects including building a 10" Dobsonian-Mount reflecting telescope, restoring a 1966 Mustang, various home-improvement projects and attempting to coax sounds that might be mistaken for music from one of his many stringed instruments.
